Overwhelming Local Opposition

Resident Opposition

The vast majority of nearby residents stand firmly against the proposed bike park development in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Conservation Authorities Against the Project

Key conservation organizations have voiced strong opposition to the bike park development, including:

  • Natural England
  • Wolds Countryside Service

These are the primary bodies responsible for preserving the unique character of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

South Willingham: A Sleepy Corner of the Wolds

The village of South Willingham epitomizes the rural nature of the Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Its tranquil character and unspoiled landscape represent exactly what the AONB designation aims to protect.

The Proposed Development

200-Space Car Park

Massive parking facility that would bring unprecedented traffic to the quiet rural area.

100+ Seat Café and Shop

Commercial facilities inconsistent with the rural character of the area.

100+ Acres Impacted

Significant portion of protected Wolds landscape would be altered for recreational use.

Christopher Heneage Farms: The Developer

Christopher Heneage Farms, the developer behind the proposed bike park, has demonstrated a profit-driven approach by ignoring both the wishes of local villagers and the professional advice of conservation authorities like Natural England.

In the Spring of 2024 CHF applied and duly received amended planning permission that literally stripped away several layers of protection from the original planning approval.

A FOI request is in hand to establish how allegedly "neutral" council officers actively worked behind the scenes to support the applicant - sadly two of the major personalities involved at ELDC have subsequently "moved on" so no accountability there…

Preserving the AONB Status

The Lincolnshire Wolds' designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) provides special protection for its unique landscape character. The proposed development directly contradicts the purpose of this designation.
